An up and a down.
first the down, to end up on a good tone.
the down:
google translator. HEEEELP!
I'm learning danish, as you know. but sometimes, without any bilingual dictonnary at home, I just don't get it. And leo.org doesn't speak danish, unfortunately. So, I use google translator. Sometimes it's fine, I can understand what a text is about or whatever. BUT only if I try in german, then in french, then in english and because I know quite a lot of danish by now, so I can get the structure. BUT, fu**! What the hell is this shit for? Should translators get replaced by internet?! I thank my whole childhood to a translator, so...
Really. the translations are so NOGO.
There are a lot of people using google-transations in Tourism. NOGO!
It's such a shame, in my opinion, to get a language so destroyed by this 'easy-solution'.
But anyway. Why I am so angry about it suddenly? why right now?
Well, I was checking a few words I came accross in the past days on gogole-translator. To write them down on my 'list of new words'.
So there is this 'endelig'. A word which means finally, last, etc. But as I understood it in context, it's also like 'just', as i.e. in 'just tell me if you need help' (Sige endelig til hvis du har brug for hjælp, i think). I wanted to be sure. but what did gogole say?!
danish: sig endelig til
french: Suzanne
WTF??!?!?!!!?!
and an up:
everybody in Northern Jutland and everywhere in Denmark and everywhere anywhere told me: Take care, in the big city there is a lot of 'bad' people. Dont' walk around in the night, don't speak to strangers. Whatever. You know what I mean. I was just like. Oh, come on, I've been a few months in Berlin, Copenhagen is just like a tenth of it. I know how to behave, I know what to do. I learned it (sometimes the hard way...)
So well, of course I'm careful.
But then, I just had bought my new pink bike (!) and I was driving home from a tour in the centre when my chain fell out. I tried to fix it myself but hahahaha. The only thing I managed to do is get my fingers all black and dirty and greasy and ... beurk.
suddenly, a boy from eastern europe with a 'shawarma-whatever' tshirt came and asked if I needed help. I thought, thaaaaanks. He just fixed it, had as dirty fngers as I did, but he had it fixed. Wonderful. Then he just sat himself on his bike and wished me a nice evening.
This was so nice. I don't know a lot of people that are that helful. To stop on the side of the road to help a stranger to fix his/her bike... Would you do it?
I think I wouldn't.
Even after this experience. But that's just because I'm not able to fix a bike ;)
A lot of bad people in the big city? Also a lot of good people in the big city! coup de coeur!
So one big grateful THANKS to this guy.
And toniiiight:
the Floor is Made of Lava at Tivoli.
I'm really really looking forward to it.
Dont know the band?!
check them here.
They're danish. and lovely.
and on photoholic you can see BERLINberlinBERLIN.
